What is PRINCE2?

Alright, let’s start with the basics: what is PRINCE2?
PRINCE2 stands for Projects IN Controlled Environments. The “2” is for the second generation. The first generation was only about IT project, but the current generation of standard is applicable to any project.

PRINCE2 is a methodology for managing projects. It tells you what to do, when to do that, and who should do that. Isn’t it great?
Well, you should know that it doesn’t tell you exactly how to do things. For that type of questions, you should refer to other resources. That’s just outside the scope of PRINCE2.

PRINCE2 belongs to AXELOS. It’s a UK joint venture of the govement and a private company. It used to belong to OGC, which was a govemental agency in the UK.
